My wife has the Sedona at the dealer for some warranty service, and I mentioned to her that they should look at the front tires. They are getting pretty bald at just 29k miles (they have never been rotated). The rear tires still look just fine.
The van is currently shod with Hanooks (don’t remember exactly which model, but I think dynapro hp2). They are telling her they can order her those or Kuhmo Crugen KL33. This prompted me to ping the Oppo hive mind. What do you folks think are the best options for all-season minivan tires with the best balance of price and tread life?

I have purchased multiple times and recommended multiple times, the General Altimax RT43. They’re a great performing all season, at a very reasonable price. If they sold them in truck sizes, they’d be on my truck too.

Long ago my go-to brands , for some reason, was either Continental or Michelin. Pirellis wore out quickly, and the fancy Goodyears I got for the ‘97 SHO sharpened the handling but wrecked the ride. I think I just realized that I have no useful advice for you whatsoever ...

What tire size is it? Is snow/
winter performance important? Do you use separate tires for the winter?

These are my second go-to recommendation after Continental TrueContacts. A friend of mine has run the RT43s on serveral cars and has been happy. We both steered a mutual friend to them when he was looking for good but affordable tires.

Good question. I think 235/60R18. All seasons only. We don’t have winter to speak of in Texas.

I had expensive Eagle performance tires come on my Mazda. When it was time to replace, I switched to much more affordable ones with longer tread life. I don’t by Goodyear with my own money.

That looks like a very affordable tire. How are they for road noise and tread life?

To be perfectly honest, the first two cars I put them on, I got rid of the car before I could find out how long they lasted. The third car I put them on, just got them in the fall.
They are a fairly quiet tire.

For my minivan?

You can get the ContiSportContact 5 in that size! Max performance summer tires are awesome on a minivan that never sees snow :o)
If they are too expensive, check out the Falken FK453CC
If you’re willing to pay for Michelin, there’s the Latitude Sport 3
A nice grand touring summer tire choice is the Goodyear Excellence
If I never had to deal with winter shit, my car would have summer tires on

I have them. They seem to be more comfortable than my stock Cinturato P7 RFTs.

Cool. The ones we’re running now are fine, but if I were to switch, I’d certainly like to cut down on the noticeable road hum I get from them.

TrueContacts are the tire store knockoff of DWS's. I'm not saying they're bad, just that when tire stores wanted a proprietary tire, this is what they came up with. DWS's are the way to go.

If they make Conti DWS's in your size just get them.

Before making a decision, measure how much tread is on the front tires yourself.
If they have at least 3mm of tread depth, rotate the tires and keep them for a while yet.
I haven’t bought tires in a while, but here is what Consumer Reports says about those tire options:
And note that none are recommended.
Here is a list of recommended tires:
Last time I bought tires, I bought Michelin Defenders... but the ones I bought are car versions, not the truck versions your van likely needs.

I had Falkens on my Mazda and liked them. I’d look at them again.

Good info, thanks.
The original tires were never rotated. I’m the one that declared them replacement ready. There is definitely not enough tread on them to be worth rotating. The dealer tech was willing to rotate, but I didn’t think it’s worth having nearly bald tires on even the non-drive wheels just to eek out a few more miles.

As long as we’re talking about the same tires, my understanding is that the DWSs (DWS 06) is a higher performance tire (still an all season) with lower treadwear rating. The TrueContacts have been quite good for their intended application (not on a performance car, which is most people who I talk to looking for tire advice ). A friend of mine runs DWS 06s o n his WRX. That’s a good fit for his car, but definitely not necessary on mine. It all depends on the application.
However, if I was to go for a higher performance tire on anything, I’d skip all seasons entirely.

Yes. But for a high performance tire, DWS’s have excellent tread wear. It rains a lot here, and I love that it doesn’t really affect the performance of DWS’s. Sub 300hp/4000lbs, TrueContacts are great, or in a place that doesn't get a ton of weather.

Now I recall - Eagle GTs, I think ... not really an all season, and rather a compromise.

From an article about the SCCA banning the Fiesta, there was a Sedona with the number tape on it. So you’re not the only one that autocrosses a Sedona, unless that was you :p
Nice photobo mbing of that awesome pink Fiesta lol

If you get a fair amount of snow then I’ve heard good things about these Vredesteins . I haven’t had any personal experience with them though.
If not, then I don’t have anything to contribute beyond what others have already
commented. Good luck though!
